PANJIM: 14-year-old Ameya Audi displayed tremendous temperament and skill to win the joint second place in the recently concluded International Rating Chess tournament held at Hyderabad, recently.
Ameya outsmarted high rated players Vijay Kumar (2021), Subramaniam SC (2021) and Sai Agni Jeevitesh (2053) and drew with Lokesh N (2093), Konde Gaurav (2047), Nath Rupankar (2034) and Srikanth K (1970).
Ameya had six wins and four draws with a tally of eight points from 10 rounds.
Ameya remained undefeated to win the joint second place and will gain 53 ELO’s from this tournament.
This is the second tournament in which Ameya has displayed his fine skills since his win in Ahmedabad, wherein he ranked third last month.
11-year-old Saiesh will gain 11 ELO’s from this tournament. Saiesh defeated Arjun Jaiswal (2079) of Gujarat. He tallied 4.5 points at the end of 10 rounds.
There were in all 220 participants.
Ameya and Saiesh are the students of Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao.
