PANJIM: Anura Prabhudesai, brand ambassador of Geno Pharmaceuticals Ltd, won bronze medal in senior women’s singles at the 82nd Senior National Badminton Championships at Nagpur, Maharashtra.
She is the first Goan shuttler to have won a medal at Senior National Badminton Championship in women’s category.
In Women’s singles Anura entered quarters by defeating Tanishq M. 21-23, 21-14 21-18.
In the quarter-finals she won against Saili Rane 21-19, 21-9.
In the semi finals she lost against Former world no. 1 and Olympic Bronze medalist Saina Nehwal 21-11, 21-10.
Anura, who has now risen to No 1 ranking in women’s singles and doubles, is now almost certain to be a part of the India Ntional camp at Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad where she will get the opportunity to train with the Nation’s top shuttlers.
