MARGAO: Arnaldo Costa claimed his disqualification to contest the Goa Football Association’s executive member post as total injustice and said his tireless work for the Association has gone in vain.
It may be recalled that a complaint was filed by Arnaldo’s fellow contestant Patwin Fizardo to the Returning Office (RO) John Lobo after which a review petition was filed. The review petition was dismissed by the RO, which means Arnaldo will not be able to contest the elections scheduled on October 28.
Arnaldo alleged that besides Patwin his close friend Schubert Furtado also had a role in seeing his nomination being rejected.
“Before I left for Dubai, I received a call from Schubert asking for details about my journey. Without any hesitation I gave him all the details including my departure and return. It was shocking that he ditched me,” said Arnaldo while speaking to the media.
“My application for review was disposed off as the contentions and grounds of submission were found to be without merit,” he mentioned.
“I will continue my work towards development of football,” he added.
Arnaldo disclosed that he had intentions of approaching the High Court and seeking a stay on the entire elections but backtracked as it would cause delay in the GFA elections and would also hamper the chances of Churchill Alemao.
“The GFA’s idea behind implementation of Sports Code in a hurry was only to debar Churchill from contesting election,” stated Arnaldo.
When asked who he would support for the presidential post, he said, “My club will decide whom to support.”
