CURCHOREM: Assolda Veterans got the better of Varca Veterans 1-0 to grab top honours in the finals of 5th All Goa Quepem Veterans football tournament organized by Navyug Vikas Manch, Quepem at Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) ground, Borimoll-Quepem on Saturday.
Inas Viegas scored the only goal of the match in the first minute for Assolda Veterans.
Down by one goal, Varca went all out in search of equaliser but could not score due to poor finishing
Assolda were richer by Rs 30,000 and a rolling trophy while Varca had to be content with Rs 20,000.
Parish Priest of Ambaulim church Fr Savio Viegas was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honours Fr Agnel Lawrence, Fr Albino Mendonca, Fr Micheal D’Costa, Fr Domnic Savio, principal of Pope John XXIII High School, Quepem, Quepem MLA and chairman of Navyug Vikas Manch Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar and QMC Chairperson Filu D’Costa.
