PANAJI: Salgaocar FC and Portais Sports Club registered convincing wins in their respective GFA U-16 league matches on Monday.
Salgaocar FC blanked Goa Velha SC 4-0 at Cansaulim ground.
Aaron opened the scoring in the 21st minute followed by the Kenneth Cardozo’s second in the 26th minute.
Aaron scored his brace off a corner kick in the 30th minute.
The Greens led 3-0 at the break.
Crossing over, Salgaocar controlled the match as they kept ball possession.
Sanward Pereira scored the team’s fourth in the 50th minute.
Kyle D’Cruz and Aaron Mascarenhas were rock solid in the Salgaocar defence.
Portais SC humbled Quelossim Sports Club, 3-1 at Batim Panchayat ground.
Portais SC started on an attacking note and kept pounding the opposition goal, which gave no time for the Quelossim team to settle down.
In the 8th minute Nathan Rodriguez opened the scoring for Portais SC from a long range shot and after the half hour mark, Mackenzie Fernandes easily chipped the ball into the net off an assist by Vellington Fernandes to make it 2-0.
Crossing over, the match became frantic as Richard Carvalho’s effort kissed the Quelossim crossbar. The Quelossim team found it hard to get into the rhythm against their Panaji counterparts which houses the GFDC Academy trainees who enjoyed the lion’s share of ball possession.
A little after the hour mark, Mackenzie secured a brace off an assist by captain Harsh Patre. In the 67th minute Quelossim SC’s Wasim Imandar scored off a header to pull one back for his side.
