Goa has received a significant boost to its fisheries sector, with projects worth ₹147.24 crore approved under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) between 2020-21 and 2025-26. Of the total approved cost, ₹72.19 crore is the Centre’s share, while ₹53.05 crore has been released so far, benefiting 803 people. The development comes as India’s fish production rises from 147.25 lakh tonnes in 2020-21 to 197.75 lakh tonnes in 2024-25. Other schemes, including FIDF, PM-MKSSY and Kisan Credit Cards, are also supporting fisheries infrastructure.
