A star-studded gathering of political leaders from across the spectrum attended the wedding reception of NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule’s daughter Revati Sule at the Pawar family’s residence at 6, Janpath in New Delhi on Monday evening.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the list of high-profile guests at the reception, which also saw the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Revati, the daughter of Supriya Sule and granddaughter of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, married Nagpur-based industrialist Sarang Lakhani in Mumbai in June. The Delhi reception brought together several prominent figures from Indian politics to celebrate the newlyweds.
Amit Shah was seen posing for photographs with Revati and Sarang at the event. Revati wore a striking red saree for the occasion as she greeted guests alongside her husband.
The Gandhi family was also among the prominent attendees. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived at the reception dressed in traditional attire. Priyanka was accompanied by her children, daughter Miraya and son Raihan.
Supriya Sule, dressed in a magenta saree, was also seen posing with the Gandhi family and the newlyweds.
The reception also brought together leaders from different political parties and ideological backgrounds. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and several chief ministers were among those who attended the event.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav shared photographs from the celebrations on social media, captioning them “Vivaah Samaroh” while extending his presence to the celebrations virtually.
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda also shared a video from the reception and congratulated Revati and Sarang. He wished the couple a happy, prosperous and successful married life after meeting the family at the event.
The Delhi reception followed the couple’s wedding celebrations in Mumbai earlier in June, which had attracted considerable attention and featured several prominent personalities from the entertainment industry.
The Mumbai festivities included appearances by Bollywood veterans and stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar. Actor-politician Ravi Kishan was also among the guests.
Several moments from the pre-wedding and wedding celebrations circulated widely on social media. One of the most talked-about appearances came from Shah Rukh Khan, who was seen dancing to Koi Mil Gaya from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai during the celebrations.
In another video, Shah Rukh Khan was seen interacting with Revati and Sarang, hugging the bride and speaking with the groom.
With prominent political leaders and celebrities attending celebrations in Mumbai and Delhi, Revati and Sarang’s wedding festivities attracted attention well beyond the Pawar family.
The Delhi reception, in particular, stood out for bringing together leaders from across the political spectrum, with the presence of the Prime Minister, Union ministers, opposition leaders and senior political figures highlighting the wide circle of the Pawar family.
