Candolim started the match on an attacking note and could have taken an early lead but Sagar Bhatkarnde failed to find the net. Calangute got their act together and forged ahead in the 15th minute through a clinical finish by Charles Cardoz. Calangute almost added another to the score but Candolim Keeper Xavier rose to the occasion blocking a good try from Charles.
Changing over, Candolim down by a goal exerted pressure on Calangute defense and succeeded in drawing level within minutes with Siddhant Shirodker finding the net from a long range strike.
Both the teams went all out trying hard to score the match winner however he failed to do so. The winners were decided on penalties. Calangute kept nerves to romp home winners by 4-2.
Agnelo Fernandes, Rajkumar Naik, Alex Fernandes and Sarvanand Korgaonkar converted for Calangute while Bapu Pednekar and Stanley D’silva were on target for Candolim.
