PANJIM:Chowgule College, Margao won the women title while St Xavier’s, Mapusa won the mens title in the inter-collegiate Table Tennis Championship organized by Goa University, at SAG, Indoor stadium, recently.
Both the colleges successfully defended their respective titles they won last academic year.
In the women finals Smt Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao defeated St Xavier’s College, Mapusa 3-0. In the first match Elendor Do Rosario won against Pranali Sonawane 3-2, in the second match Anchal Verlekar won against Manjita Joshi 3-1, while in third match Laxmi Shetye defeated Annalee Serrao 3-1.
The winning team consisted of Eleanor Do Rosario, Anchal Verlekar, Laxmi Shetye, Shyamoli Sousa Menezes and Shreya Jain while the members of runner’s-up team were Sabia Shaikh, Khatiza Khan, Manjita Joshi, Pranali Sonawane & Annalee Serrao.
In the men finals St Xavier’s College, Mapusa defeated Dhempe College, Miramar 3-0. Pranav Naik won against Neil Godinho 3-0 while Joash Mendonca won against Lobesh Vadiekar 3-0 and Saish Naik won against Shubham Lokre by 3-0.
The Winning team consisted of Joash Mendonca, Zibin Bocarro, Joel Andrade, Pranav Naik and Saish Naik. While runner’s-up team consisted of Rushikesh Raikar, Aniket Karmalkar, Neil Godinho, Lobesh Vadiekar and Shubham Lokre.
Principal of Goa College of Home Science Dr Mahesh Pai, was the chief guest for the presentation ceremony.
