MARGAO: Churchill Brothers SC salvaged a draw against determined Corps of Signals in the Goa Professional League match played at Utorda ground, on Saturday.
Both the teams started the match on a cautious note but it was Corps of Signals who had the first say at the goal and managed to take the lead in the eighth minute through Vishnu Chhetri.
The goal surprised the entire Churchill Brothers SC camp. Despite trying to penetrate the stubborn Corps defence, the Red Machines struggled in the first half.
Crossing over, it was a more attacking Churchill Brothers side as they pressed their opponents with numbers.
Valerian’s inclusion in the second half gave more dynamics to the Churchill Brothers SC as the midfielder created numerous chances to his team, but Agnelo Colaco and Uttam Rai failed to take them.
At the hour mark, Uttam Rai made a brilliant run in the rival box and almost scored but he was brought down by the rival keeper and referee made no hesitation to point at the spot.
Uttam Rai, himself, stepped up and coolly scored past the keeper.
Chuchill Brothers were unlucky as despite enjoying better share of possession, they failed to walk with three points.
