MARGAO: With win against Pune FC in their last encounter, Churchill Brothers Sports Club are confident to carry on momentum in their next match against Dempo Sports Club at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on Friday, at 6 p.m.
Churchill Brothers scored two goals in the last four minutes of injury time to stun Pune and are now look to do the same.
The win helped Churchill Bros move out of the relegation zone with 18 points from 18 matches, leaving Mohammedan Sporting in the drop zone with 17 points from 19 matches.
“In the last game, the players showed determination and are all set for tomorrow’s challenge,” informed Technical Director Subhash Bhowmick.
“It’s another massive game for us. The fight for survival is tough,” he said.
The Red Machines will miss the services of
Satish Singh and Bineesh Balan would miss the game as both are facing suspension while Abdelhamed Shabana who served a one match ban in the previous round will be back and Australian defender Daniel Zelleny will also be part of the squad.
With Dempo having a good mixture of youth and experienced players, it will not be so easy for Churchill Brothers to repeat the performance, a team which beat them by a solitary goal in the first leg and is now looking good in the second with the addition of several players.
A win for Arthur Papas’s side will take them higher up the table and the former I-League champions will fancy their chances against a side that is lowly-placed.
