RAIA: Cumborda Sports Club emerged champions defeating Damdolem sports Club 3-1 in the final of 1st Caniza Peixoto memorial football tournament organised by the Agxem Sports Club, at St Alex Church ground, recently.
The final began on a promising note despite of heavy rains with the presence of around 800 enthusiastic fans. Cumborda SC had the upper hand in both the sessions. Macson Fernandes opened the scoreline for Cumborda SC and before the half time Milroy Hilario equalised for Damdolem SC. At lemon break, the score was 1-1.

Changing over, Damdolem SC tried to take lead but their forwards failed to capitalise on the opportunities created by the team.
Cumborda SC scored two quick goals with the efforts of James Fernandes and Balsan Fernandes to seal the fate of Damdolem SC.
Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in presence of Curtorim Zilla Panchayat member Michelle Rebello, Fr Manuel Dias, Fr Milagres Dias, Fr Michael Fernandes, Conceicao Dias, Tyson Caido, Panch Jasmila Ferrao and other dignitaries. Family member of late Caniza Peixoto, Cony Peixeto and club officials were also present.
