RAIA: Cuncolim Union defeated Canacona Sports and Cultural Club 2-1 to qualify the semi-finals of 1st VJT Cup football at Chinchinim church ground, Friday.
Cuncolim took the lead in the 20th minute with Ashtrofio Pinto slotting home a cross from the right. Canacona hit back but they could not get past the Cuncolim goalkeeper.

Canacona equalized in the 40th minute as Alvito Miranda unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box that beat the Cuncolim goalkeeper. Cuncolim regained the lead in the 54th minute as Daulat Dessai headed in a corner.
Velvino Fernandes of Canacona was adjudged man-of-the match for his impressive performance. He received a special prize from Fr. Victor and Fr. Christopher of Our Lady of Hope Church, Chinchinim.
Cuncolim Union will now meet CRC Chinchinim in the first semi-final.
