CURCHOREM: The Sports Authority of Goa handed over pitch roller to Curchorem Sports Complex to maintain the cricket pitch at Curchorem Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) ground recently.
Speaking on the occasion, VM Prabhudesai congratulated the SAG staff for maintaining the complex and informed that the renovation work of existing gymnasium at the complex will be taken up on priority basis.
Speaking further, he said that the repair work of gymnasium which was built 20 years back including replacement of old equipment will be undertaken by the department instead of tendering the work inorder to maintain better quality with less expenditure.
“Due to initiative of the local MLA Nilesh Cabral the most modern sports complex with all the latest equipments is coming up at Curchorem which is under construction and the project will be completed by the end of 2019.” informed Prabhudesai.
Cabral in his speech informed that the new sports complex which is under construction will provide good opportunity not only for the children, women and youth but also to senior citizens to enhance sports activities. “It will be one of the best sports centre not only in the State but that of the whole India,” informed Cabral.
While presenting the list of requirements at the cricket ground to the director, Cabral said that henceforth the ground will not be given to organise activities other than sports to avoid damages. Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council Chairperson Felix Fernandes, Councillors, Complex Committee President Dr. Satish Kudchodkar, Complex Incharge and Quepem APEO John Fernandes were also present on the occasion.
