Customs, Bresources march into finals

Customs and Central Excise, Goa rallied splendidly to record a 4-1 tie-breaker victory over Velsao Veterans to move into the finals of 10th Salgaocar memorial veterans soccer tournament organised by Prime Sports Club at Nagoa ground on Saturday.
Customs started well but it was Velsao who took the lead midway as Boy Menezes receiving a Soccoro Fernandes pass dribbled past Customs defender Minguel Miranda and Avito Fernandes to fire a left footer which went past goalkeeper Chandrakant Naik into the roof of the net.
After the lemon break, Velsao’s Francis Dias restored parity with a close range effect following a Verissimo Rodrigues pass.
In the ensuing tie-breaker Customs scored through Augusto Pereira, Francis Dias and Chandrakant Naik while Velsao failed to convert.
In the U-16 tournament, Bresources, Betalbatim made it to the finals with a comfortable 2-0 win over Wilred Leisure Sports Club, Curtorim. Elison Pereira and Royston Cardozo scored a goal each for Bresources.
Earlier, chief guest Soccoro Coutinho, national footballer was introduced to the teams.
