MARGAO: Sporting Club of Davorlim edged past Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda 2-1 to cruise into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Wilred Leisure Super Soccer inter-village tournament organized by Wilred Leisure Sports Club at DYSA ground, Curtorim, Friday. Davorlim led 2-0 at the breather.
Davorlim held the advantage in the opening session with their midfielders working in tandem with their forwards to put the rival defence under tremendous pressure. Their persistent forays materialized when Maclon Colaco slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Spurred by the success, Davorlim intensified their forays and troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Maclon struck for the second time to complete his brace.
Post resumption, Fr Agnelo put up an improved display and attacked the rival goal with sharp raids. After a couple of threatening forays, Pascoal Fernandes reduced the deficit with a stiff shot.
After the reducer, Fr Agnelo went all-out in search of the equalizer and swarmed all over the rival territory but the Davorlim defenders stood tall in protecting their slender lead.
