PANJIM: Goa Dayne Coelho got off to flying start at the first day of racing of the 3rdGoa International Sailing Week Goa, event conducted by National Hobie Class Association (NHCA), hosted by the Fort Chapora Yacht Club (FCYC) under the aegis of the Goa Yachting Association (GYA), on Friday.
Dayne is leading in the RS:X meanwhile, Kamalapati is in second position. In the Laser Standard, Ajay Singh (INWTC Mumbai) is leading with Deelip Kumar (EMESA) and Upamanyu Dutta (RBYC) in second and third position respectively.
In the Hobie 16, Ashish Patel – Nagan Behera (EMESA) is leading with Kaushal Kumar – Girish M (AWSA) and Dilip Sharma – Darshan Dixit (AWSA) are in second and third position respectively. The event received a great response from clubs across the country, people coming from Cochin, Vizag, Hyderabad, Poona, Bombay and other places. The diverse group of sailors include the oldest participant, 53 year old Madhavan Thirumalai from the USA and the youngest sailor, local Avelino Fernandes, just 12 years.
