Dicarpale Sports Club prevailed over Nerul Sports Club 3-0 via the tie-breaker to storm into the quarter-finals of Curtorim Villagers Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Curtorim Gymkhana at Curtorim ground, on Monday.
The match got off to a promising start with both sides displaying attacking football. However, as the match progressed it was Nerul who looked more dominant.
Nerul missed an easy chance when Sammer Dabolkar blasted wide the spot kick.
Dicarpale also had scoring chances but their forwards frittered away from ideal positions. The second half turned livelier as both teams went all out and attacked either citadel with sharp shots but the match-winner eluded them.
Nerul tried their best to snatch the victory. They came close to scoring but Dicarpale goalkeeper was alert.
In the penalty shoot-out, Sydney Furtado, William Niasso and Braz Valles were on target for Dicarpale while Nerul failed to convert a singe spot kick.
