PANJIM: Was the syllabus for the AFC C-Licence course held in Goa from September 10-22 in which five candidates out of 24 passed, changed so as to conform to European standards since there were two foreign instructors? That’s the question being raised by some of the Goan coaches who attended it.
The course follows the AFC curriculum, which is upgraded periodically, but with the two foreigners involved as instructors, there is a feeling that the content was suddenly changed, with the result that there were more failures. At this rate of passing, chances of Indian coaches obtaining the ultimate A-Licence will be very dim, many observed, thus ensuring that only foreigners are engaged in coaching Indian teams in big leagues.
“There is need to check if the course content was changed and if also coaches Savio Medeira and Francisco Bruto da Costa have the required AFC licence as instructors. What we know is that only Armando Colaco and Marcus Pacheco are the only two Goans qualified as AFC instructors and as such the feeling that there were instructors who were not eligible to conduct the course,” remarked a trainee. “But all this needs to be verified,” he added.
