RAIA: Youth Club of Manora defeated Raitura SC 2-0 in the GFA Second Division League match, played at Raia ground, on Tuesday.
Despite a fierce battle in the first half between the teams, there were no scores in the first session.
Raitura SC Josbon Fernandes should have found the ball at the back of YC Manora net in the 3rd minutes but Shubert Colaco of YC Manora tackled his move.
In the 9th minute, Manora keeper Swizel Pereira denied Abhay Shetty with a brilliant save.
Raitura had the chance to take the lead just before the break but Manora defender Valito Miranda foiled Raitura’s Melroy Dias effort.
Crossing ends, Manora pressed hard and finally broke the deadlock shortly after the hour mark when Benson Fernandes’ left foot shot from distance caught the rival keeper napping.
Ivon Costa doubled the account for YC Manora in the 84th minute.
At Curtorim ground, Fr Agnel YC, Paroda defeated Maina SC 3-1.
Jerry Fernandes opened the account for Fr Agnel YC in the 21st minute while Agnes Vaz equalised for Maina in the 32nd minute.
Roston Lima scored a brace for Fr Agnel in the 52nd and 69th minute.
At Cuncolim ground, Cuncolim Union trounced St Roch YC, Majorda 3-0.
There were no scores in the first half. Samson Simoes scored the team’s first goal at the hour mark. Nash Pereira scored a brace for the winners netting in the 66th and 89th minute.
At Ambelim ground, SWC Zaino hit St Sebastian UC 6-2 for a tennis score.
Savlon Catdozo and Blasco Fernandes scored a brace each for Zaino. Jade Colaco and Anthony Barretto were other scorers for the winners.
At the other end, Cannut Fernandes and Valessly Afonso scored a goal each for St Sebastian.
At Velsao ground, Rising Star SC thumped Dabolim United 5-1.
Mulgappa Madar opened the account for Rising Star in the 31st minute while Hasten D’Sa equalised in the next minute.
Crossing ends, Uday Naik gave Rising Star the lead in the 46th minute.
Abijit Chodankar netted a hat-trick, scoring in the 73rd, 78th and 88th minute for Rising Club.
