FC Goa thump Churchill Brothers

PANJIM: FC Goa team were at their rampant best against Churchill Brothers in the Hero Junior League, scoring five goals without reply.
This was assumed to be a routine outing for the FC Goa U-16 side, and once the game started, it became clear that Churchill were in trouble.
A foul inside the box within the first ten minutes led to a penalty, and FC Goa’s Wesley D’Sa made no mistake, slotting past the goalkeeper for 1-0.
There was little resurgence from Churchill after going behind, and they were pegged back once more as FC Goa attacked.
FC Goa scored their second through Pratik Kale, who converted from close range after a cross into the box. 2-0 soon became 3-0 after the Churchill keeper parried an initial effort into the path of Climax Fernandes, who had a tap in.
Churchill’s troubles continued, and the tormenter-in-chief from the U-16’s last game in the form of Rayan Menezes turned up to make it 4-0 after a lovely solo run.
Churchill were down to ten soon after, with two yellow cards shown to Sandeep Chaudhary, and FC Goa took advantage of their numerical superiority by making it 5-0 before the break. The fifth goal was scored by Brendon Pereira, and capped off a perfect afternoon for the Gaurs before the second half even began.
