Fr Agnel win Bro Slattery memorial trophy

CHICALIM: Fr Agnel High School, Pilar emerged winners of the 21st Bro D O Slattery Memorial Inter-School football tournament, organised by Regina Mundi School and played at the School ground, Chicalim.

CHICALIM: Fr Agnel High School, Pilar emerged winners of the 21st Bro D O Slattery Memorial Inter-School football tournament, organised by Regina Mundi School and played at the School ground, Chicalim.
Fr. Agnel’s beat Regina Mundi School 3-2 in the final via the tie-breaker after both the teams were locked 0-0 at full time.
Regina Mundi started on the right note dominating the proceedings with Preetam missing an opportunity only to see Pilar boucing back through Cajetan Silveira and Asmon Viegas but Regina Mundi defence lead by Manas Patil stood like a rock.
The second half was completly dominated by Regina Mundi with Joybert, Jason missing three scoring opportunities.
In the tie-breaker, Fr Agnel prevailed over Regina Mundi.
Gaurdian Angel High School, Sanvordem beat Marina English High School, Verna 3-2 via the tie breaker to clinch the third place.
Francisco Fernandes an ex student of the School who played for Goa/India and now with Chennaiyan FC in the ISL League was felicitated along with yet another ex student and India International Aaron Rodrigues for their excellence in the field of football.
Bro Vinay Kadia, Headmaster of Regina Mundi School, M M Muthwali, Ex. State football coach, Francisco Nunes,  Nilesh Narvekar MMC Councillor, Bro Arthur Rodrigues, Manoj Halarnkar, Secondary School Co-ordinator, Francisco Fernandes, Chennaiyan FC, Aaron Rodrigues, Glyn Carvalho, Vice Chairman of PTA, distributed the prizes to the winners.
