The Goa U-19 girls football team will kick-off their campaign in the 9th Junior Nationals against Himachal Pradesh tomorrow at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
Coach Maymol Rocky has asked the girls not be complacent if they go into the lead but rather go forward for more goals. “Out of the three matches, we are expected to win our first game, but I have asked the girls to try and score as many goals as possible since goal average could play a big role at the initial group stage.”
Maymol is happy with the accommodation they have been provided with and states that there is no major problem adjusting to the food. The team’s training sessions have gone well with no rain and good ground conditions. But the only obstacle the girls are facing is that they are kept in the dark on the kick-off time which is hampering their preparation. “We can only find out the kick-off time at the managers meeting late on Wednesday,” stated Maymol.
