PANJIM: Goa and Karnataka registered wins in their respective matches of the GCA 1st Nagesh Trophy, played at GCA ground, Porvorim on Wednesday.
In the first match, batting first, Rajasthan were bundled for 63 runs in 9.4 overs.
Islam Alli (20 runs) and Irfan Ali (16) were top run getters for Rajasthan.
Akshay Borikar was the pick of the bowlers as the claimed three wickets giving away just 17 runs, thus helping Goa to restrict their opponents to a low score.
Goa chased down the target in 9.4 over with seven wickets in hand. Goa’s Nilesh Mirgal was named the Man-of-the-Match for his all round contribution. He scored 21 runs and was instrumental in three run outs.
In second match between Karnataka vs Orissa, Karnataka won by eight wickets.
Batting first, Orissa scored 140 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Shukram Majhi was the top scorer as he scored a half century (62 runs). B1 Player Jafar Iqbal scored 16 runs. For, Karnataka, Harish picked one wicket giving away 19 runs and Sunil R grabbed three wickets.
Karnataka reached the total in 16.3 overs losing two wickets. Prakash Jayaram scored 56 runs from 28 deliveries and Baskar remained unbeaten at 62 runs.
Orissa’s Nakul picked one wicket. Sunil R was named the Man-of-the-Match.
