Holiday Club, Arpora prevailed over Calangute Association 5-4 via the tie-breaker after the teams were involved in a goalless draw to move into quarter-finals of Vagator Parish Youth Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Vagator Parish Youth at Ozrant ground, Vagator on Monday.
Dominating the initial proceedings, Arpora failed to find the net on a couple of occasions with Stanley Coutinho, Lawrence Rodrigues and Gaurish Naik missing the mark narrowly. Calangute, on the other hand, saw Rajkumar miss a golden opportunity after being fed by Cliff Fernandes.
Changing over, Calangute kept mounting on pressure on Arpora defense through Francisco Fernandes and Blake Haldankar but failed to score.
Arpora also had their share of missed chances. Both keepers Nandan (Arpora) and Agnelo (Calangute) came to the rescue of their sides on a couple of occasions.
Holiday Club, Arpora overcame Calangute Association 5-4 on penalties. Stanley Coutinho, Lawrence Rodrigues, Saish Palyekar, Adnan Beig and Sanjay Kudalkar scored for Arpora while Blake Haldankar, Francisco Fernandes, Domnic Fernandes and Agostinho Rodrigues were on target for Calangute.
