Joshua sets record

PANJIM, April 3
Seven-year-old Joshua Parulekar, a special athlete of Lourdes Convent Special School, Saligao, created a record when he swam across river Mandovi from Malim Jetty to Captain of Ports Jetty, Panjim on the occasion of World Autism Day, on Thursday.
Joshua took approximately 20 minutes to complete this feat. He was accompanied by his father Dr. Prassanna Paulekar, Girish Lotlikar and other SAG swimming coaches.
A huge gathering welcomed Joshua at the Panjim Jetty.
Athletes and teachers from different special schools from Panjim and Bicholim were present. Prominent among the spectators was Bosco George, SP, Stephen Braganza from Captain of Ports and the principal of Lourdes Convent Special School, Saligao.
Carolina Po, CCP Mayor was the chief guest and complimented Joshua on his fete. Po had a word of praise for the parents and the Special Olympics, Goa for encouraging the athletes. The Mayor was presented a memento on behalf of the Special Olympics, Goa.
Luis Fernandes, Victor Vaz of Special Olympics, Goa were amongst those prominent in the organization.
