BENAULIM: Maina SC, Curtorim got the better of St Anthony SC, Assolda 4-1 to lift the 29th Super Soccer trophy organised by United Boys of Dando, Colva, at Sao Joao Baptist Dando ground, Benaulim, on Sunday.
In the 9th minute, Maina striker Milagres Fernandes netted the first goal of the match with a glancing header. In the 13th minute, Moises D’Sa equalised for Assolda.
Minutes later, Jowin Carneiro made it 2-1 for Maina.
With just four minutes left for the first half, Milagres made it 3-1 for Maina.
Post resumption, Milagres Fernandes completed his hat-trick to make it 4-1 for Maina in the 48th minute.
Assolda tried to score but the defenders of Maina guarded their fort till the end of the match.
The winners were awarded Rs 40,000 while the runners-up received Rs 30,000 plus trophies
Churchill Alemao, MLA of Benaulim Constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Anthony Fernandes, sarpanch of VP Colva, Diella Pereira, sarpanch of VP Cana-Benaulim, Menino Fernandes, and other dignitaries and club officials.
