SANVORCOTTO-CUNCOLIM: Mandopa SC registered a solitary goal win over Ambelim SC to move into the semi-finals of the 10th Cuncolim Union inter-village rolling football tournament, organised by Cuncolim Union, at Cuncolim ground, on Wednesday.
In the 25th minute of the first half Mandopa’s Joseph Gomes had an opportunity to score but the latter’s shot was saved by the Ambelim keeper Benny Silva. Two minutes later, Ambelim’s Nial Cardozo took a curler but failed to convert.
In the second half Mandopa’s Austin Gomes took an arrow bound shot which hit the Ambelim side netting and went out of play.
In the 54th minute, Mandopa’s Climax Lawrence took a corner-kick off and the ball fell to Presly Gomes who netted the match-winner.
Mandopa SC will now meet SC Davorlim in the semi-finals on October 19.
