MARGAO: Manovikas EMS got the better of The Kings School 4-1 in a very keenly contested inaugural match of the 3rd edition of the Chowgule Sports Centre U-10 Futsal League organised by YFA and co sponsored by Capitao Security Service and The Kings School, at Chowgule Sports Centre, Margao, on Tuesday.
Man-of-the-match Lochlan Sousa opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the first half. Dhruv Pai doubled the lead two minutes later.
Aloysius Fernandes reduced the deficit just before the break. Goals from Kirsten Pinheiro and Earl Gonsalves sealed the tie for Manovikas.
Hosts Futebole YFA beat St Jude’s Betalbatim 2-0. Soham Mane and Caleb Fernandes’s first half strikes were enough to give YFA all three points. Lillian Rodrigues the only girl participant in the league was adjudged the woman-of-the-match for her stellar performance in keeping a clean sheet for YFA.
Irwin Faleiro’s brace helped Loyola HS thump Infant Jesus HS Colva 5-1 in the third matc. Man-of-the-match Reuban Barbosa , Ryan Fernandes and Shelloy Sequeira scored a goal each for the winners.
Defending Champions Perpetual Succour Convent HS scored a resounding 8-1 victory over Bloomz International, Verna. Man-of-the-match Emmanuel Gama, Cyndroy and Nityanand scored a brace each while Musab scored one for the winners. Melron Vaz scored a consolation goal for Bloomz.
Warren Rodrigues scored the first hat-trick of the league as Vidya Vikas Academy downed Posh EHS in the clash of the new comers. Ethan Fernandes and Bevan Barreto scored the other goals.
Anwar Gundar of Posh EHS was adjudged the man-of-the-match for his brilliant saves in goal.
Child Care School, Pajifond and Saviour of the World HS Loutolim played out a very entertaining 1-1 draw in the last match of the day. Child Care lead throughout after Saviour of the World defender scored an own goal but were denied victory with two minutes left on the clock as Jayden Fernandes scored off a pass from Ashwin Miranda.
Earlier, the league was officially kicked started by chief guest Melvin Pereira, Chairman of The Kings School and Child Care School. Also present were Ligia Pereira of The Kings School, Christian Roldan, Director FTD Barcelona, Spain, Marina Ramos, Assistant coach FTD and Deepa Chowgule, Vice President of Chowgule Education Society.
