BENAULIM: Margao SC edged past CAC Cansaulim 6-4 via tie-breaker to storm into the final of the 4th St Sebastian trophy football tournament, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Thursday.
Margao SC were the first to have the say at the goal as they opened the account through Joel Camara’s off Charlton Pereira’s corner kick, in the 25th minute.
The 30th minute saw Jovet Barretto of CAC Cansaulim roll the ball to Elrich Sequeira whose carpet drive shot was saved by the rival goalkeeper while Creston Araujo of Margao SC shot was saved by Cansaulim goalkeeper Prabhakar Kattimini in the 43rd minute.
In the 45th minute Chadwick Furtado levelled terms for CAC Cansaulim through free kick.
There after the ball was mostly confined in the midfield as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker Margao SC netted through Jaison Pinto, John Colaco, Roque Borges, Cliff Barretto and Francis Andrade while Richard Rocha, Santan Vaz and Jassito Vaz converted for CAC Cansaulim.
Margao SC will lock horns with Parish Youth Nuvem in the final on August 7.
