CHINCHINIM: Navelim Sporting Club defeated Sao Jose de Areal 4-2 to move to the quarter-finals of the Fr Bruno Leitao Memorial Cup, organised by Union of Chinchinim Villagers, at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim, on Friday.
Nash Pereira opened the score-line for Navelim in the 20th minute with a power-packed shot from Velington’s pass .

Navelim further inflated the lead through Nash Pereira and made it 2-0 in the 54th minute. Rovan Pereira too recorded his name on the score sheet for Navelim in the 58th minute and made it 3-0.
A penalty was awarded to Sao Jose de Areal after a reckless tackle from the Navelim goalkeeper. Tyson Carvalho converted to reduce the margin 1-3 for Areal in the 68th minute. Cliford of Areal made it 2-3 from a thunderous shot which beat the Navelim goalkeeper in the 70th minute. Nash scored his brace making it 4-2 in favour of Navelim.
