The teams had equal number of chances in the first half of the match but the players failed to convert. Penha de Franca had to wait until the sudden death to claim their final spot after the penalty shoot-out also failed to provide a result.
Valpoi had an open chance to take the lead in the very third minute but Vishal Sawant shot wide in front of an open goal after being set up cleverly by Sanjay Vagmare.
Subsequently, Penha de Franca looked dangerous through Pandhari Chopdekar’s left-footed effort but Valpoi goalkeeper Awaiz Khan averted the danger.
