MARGAO: Phoenix Warriors were crowned champions of the 1st YFA Women’s League for Non-Professional players after a hard fought 1-0 victory against the Avengers in the final , at Chowgule Sports Centre Futsal court, Margao, recently.
Coney D’Cruz scored the only goal of the game in the second half when her accurate toe poke found the bottom corner of the net.
The unique league was designed for mothers, women and girls who are not professional football/futsal players.
YFA wants to promote mothers and women to come join the futsal training sessions every Wednesday for overall fitness through futsal.
Five teams participated in the league cum knockout tournament namely Phoenix Warriors, Victorious Secret, Avengers, TKS Sparkles and Tiger Football Club.
Each team played four league matches each and the top two teams contested the final.
Founder/Head Coach of Youth Futsal Academy Socorro George Vaz was the chief guest gave away the trophies and individual awards.
