PANJIM: The Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2019 commenced with the veteran’s category as Rajmohan Pillai and Ashish Pant progressed on Day 1 played at the blue courts of the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar.
The state open tournament started with the doubles pairing of Suhel and Bhavesh taking on Pillai and Pant in 90+ category. Rajmohan Pillai and Ashish Pant won the game in a hard-fought battle eventually winning 7-5. In the next round Pillai and Pant got the better of Suresh and Ashish winning 6-0.
Other winners on the opening day were David and Raju winning against Chetan and Brian, 6-1 followed by their second win of the day over R Nimbalkar and R Kulkarni, 6-3 to seal their place in the next round.
