MARGAO: FC Pune City and head coach David Platt was pleased with a point from the 1-1 draw against FC Goa.
FC Pune City cemented their place at the top of the standings after the first leg of matches with 13 points in their kitty.
Platt’s boys played three matches in a span of six days with two wins.
“I am delighted with the point after the chances FC Goa wasted,” Platt stated at the post-match press conference.
FC Goa’s decision to play three defenders in the form of Lucio, Gregory Arnolin and Luciano Sobrosa did not come as a surprise for the former Manchester City assistant coach.
“It did not surprise me as I knew about the change in formation as Lucio was back from injury. However, I did not expect the offensive nature of FC Goa. What we could not do in the first half was enjoy the ball possession but the players were brave.”
Platt wanted his team to take charge right from the word go but the inclusion of speedy FC Goa wingers Mandar Rao Desai and Romeo Fernandes added flair to their rivals attack.
Platt believes his team has what it takes to win the title this time after failing to qualify in the top four last season. The strong bench strength is another factor for such ambitions.
