MATHOL-VERNA: Povosao beat Ambulor 4-3 via the tie-breaker to clinch the late Lazaro D’Silva and Caje Fernandes Memorial Cup played at Mathol football ground, Verna on Sunday.
Both the teams started the game on a fast pace. In the second minute itself Ambulor could have opened the account but Legorio Calado powerful shot was saved by Povosao goalkeeper.
Ambulor took the lead in the 25th minute through Antus Moniz header from a corner taken by Reagan Moniz.
In the second half, Ambulor’s Aglon Abranches missed an easy chance to double the lead in the 50th minute.
Later Povosao drew level through Clive Fernandes from a good placement shot from inside the box.
In the tie-breaker Povosao boys scored through Noel d Silva, Jogan da Silva and Clive Fernandes, while Aglon Abranches and Legorio Calado netted for Ambulor. The winners were richer by Rs 10000 while the runners up had to settle for Rs 6000 plus trophies.
