PANJIM: Purushottam Walwalkar Higher Secondary School, Mapusa emerged North District champions in the U-19 Boys Inter-Higher Secondary School Cricket Championships, organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
In a one-sided final played at Peddem ground, Mapusa, Walwalkar thrashed Dempo Higher Secondary School by nine wickets.
Electing to bat first Dempo were all out for 68 in 19.4 overs. Sanket (17) and Vinayak (13) top scored for Dempo. Four Dempo batsmen went back to pavilion without troubling the scorers.
For Walwalkar, Shubham Tari picked four wickets while Yash Porab and Amrut picked two each. Balpreet Chadda accounted for one.
In reply, Walwalkar scored the required runs in just 6.2 overs.
Ketan Nandrekar top-scored for Walwalkar with a 8-ball 24 (3×4, 1×6). Yash Porob scored seven ball 19 (1×6, 2×4), while Venkatesh scored 9 runs. Devdutt picked one wicket for Dempo.
Walwalkar will now play MES higher Secondary School in State final.
