MARGAO: Parish Youth, Nuvem blanked Ambelim Sports Club 2-0 to cruise into the semi-finals of all-Goa Vodafone inter-village football tournament organized by Colmorod Ratvado Sports Club at Rosary ground, Navelim, Wednesday. Nuvem led 1-0 at the breather.

Ambelim nearly broke the deadlock in the sixth minute but midfielder Percival D’Silva’s rasping shot was blocked by Nuvem goalkeeper Parivar Joshi.

After the scare, Nuvem launched a barrage of attacks and troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids.

Nuvem drew first blood in the 19th minute when promising striker Neves Noronha picked the ball from midfielder Joe Colaco and beat Ambelim goalkeeper Benny D’Silva all ends up with a snap shot.

Spurred by the success, Nuvem’s Neves and Schubert Colaco troubled the rival defence with raids.

After resumption, Ambelim tried to get back into the game but failed to function as a cohesive unit. Striker Jade Colaco worked overtime but failed to get adequate support from Samson Fernandes.

Ambelim nearly found the equalizer but striker Samson shot wide off Merciano Fernandes.

At the other end, Nuvem nearly doubled the lead but Aldrich Pereira’s feeble shot went straight into the safe hands of Benny.

Nuvem doubled their lead in the 65th minute when midfielder Joe received the ball from his own half and fired home leaving Benny dazed.

Ambelim’s striker Jade Colaco was adjudged most valuable player. Nuvem received Rs 4,000.
