MARGAO: Parish Youth Nuvem knocked out Sporting Club of Davorlim 6-5 via the tie-breaker to storm into the finals of 25th All-Goa Super Soccer inter-village football tournament organized by United Boys of Dando-Colva at St John de Baptist ground, Benaulim, Wednesday. Nuvem led 1-0 at the breather.
The teams played at a ferocious pace and in the 25th minute Schubert Colaco put Nuvem in front.
Spurred by the early success, Nuvem increased their pace and raided the rival goal with sporadic raids but unluckily their forwards either shot wide or shot straight into the safe hands of the rival goalkeeper.
Crossing over, Nuvem continued to enjoy the lion’s share of exchanges and troubled the rival defence with swift counter attacks.
Down by a first half goal, Davorlim intensified their attacks and their efforts bore fruit in the 39th minute when Venson Figueiredo punished the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Spurred by the reducer, Davorlim upped their ante and bulldozed the rival defenders with sharp raids.
Stanley Gomes made it 2-1 in favour of Davorlim in the 44th minute.
Stunned by the deficit, Nuvem went into an attacking mode and found the equalizer when Jose Colaco punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
In the tie-breaker, Queterio Pango, Xavier Colaco, Alrich Pereira and Stanely Colaco were on target for Nuvem while Bonnie Niasso, Paxton Gomes, and Melvin Figueiredo converted for Davorlim.
