PANJIM: Raia Sporting Club, Raia entered the semi-finals of 29th All Goa St Anne’s Festival Inter-Village Soccer, organised by Ponda Footballers, defeating Ponda Footballers 2-0, played at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti, on Monday.
A self goal by Peter put Raia in front in the first half and towards the injury time in the second half Melvin Gauncar made the issue safe. Goalkeeper Shubham Naik was the hero for Ponda Footballers making four stunning saves. Raia took the lead when rival defender Peter pushed the ball into his own nets while attempting to clear the ball off the line.
In injury time Melvin Gauncar got a loose ball and dribbled past Ponda defender and placed the ball over advancing keeper. Raia will take on Sai Avtar Anjuna in the semi-finals.
