PANJIM: Goa’s Rosary Higher Secondary School and Rosary College of Commerce and Arts are placed in a unique position to win a double title at the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National Football Championship, which begins on Friday, in Mumbai.
Both the senior girls and college boy’s teams of Rosary School and Rosary College had won their respective Goa Leg final earlier this month, and will now compete for the coveted inaugural year RFYS National titles.
Placed in Group A in the College Boys category, Rosary Commerce and Arts College will open their campaign against Indira College of Commerce-Pune on December 30 at Fr Agnel ground, while the senior girls team of Rosary Higher Secondary School will face Chaturdash Palli High School-Kolkata in their season opener at Cooperage ground on December 31.
Goa’s challenge in the senior boys group is spearheaded by Government Higher Secondary School who will take on Mamta Modern Sr Secondary School from Delhi at Cooperage ground on December 30.
Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School from Cortalim will compete in the junior boys’ category and play their first match against St Joseph’s Residential School-Chennai at Cooperage ground on December 31.
With a total prize money of Rs 16 Lakhs, the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National Championship in Mumbai will see a conglomeration of the best of 32 teams in four categories and from eight cities compete for the top honours.
All the matches will have a four-camera set up to live streamed on RFYS websitewww.rfyouthsports.com.
Top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals to be played at Cooperage ground on January 4 and 5, with final scheduled on January 7.
