MAPUSA: Prathamesh Salunke scored the first century of 5th Goa Premier League T20 cricket tournament as Goa Cricket Association Colts drubbed Cricket Russia by 147 runs in the ninth match at GCA ground, Porvorim, Monday. Man-of-the-match Salunke was a class apart as he entertained the crowd with some aggressive batting which included 12 sixes and 11 boundaries. It was a lucky day for the 26 year-old after being dropped thrice in his innings.
First on 13, then 17 and finally on 81 but the Mumbai lad survived on all three occasions and went on to celebrate his century in style.
Salunke’s hard hitting did not stop there as he terrorized the rival bowlers with five sixes and a four before being caught just before the boundary line by Hardip Sigh in the final over. He was well supported by his opening partner Hitendra Dalal, who also notched a half century in the 116 run partnership.
After already suffering two defeats in their previous outings, the third was certainly on the way for Cricket Russia as they were easily bundled out for 94 runs.
