MAPUSA: A brilliant hat-trick by Sangam Shetye enabled Goa to drub Tamil Nadu by a 5-0 margin in the Junior Boys National football Championship, for the Dr BC Roy Trophy 2023-24, first Tier group stage at Bhubaheshwar, Odisha, on Friday.
Sangam Shetye struck his opening goal in the 42nd minute, after receiving an intelligent through-pass from Favio Martins to make it 1-0. On crossing over Goa pinned their opponents inside their own territory and scored at regular intervals.

In the 62nd minute, Johnson dribbled past a host of rival defenders and cut back a fine ball for Sangam Shetye, who coolly tapped the ball into the goal to make the score 2-0.
It did not take long for Sangam to complete his hat trick as he headed the ball into the goal off a pinpoint cross by Aaron Fernandes. Goa’s hunger for goals did not stop as in the 78th minute. Cayden Rodrigues receiving a pass from Ruell Goes kicked it into the top corner of the goal to make it 4-0.
In the 80th minute Jodrick Abranches hammered in the final nail into Tamil Nadu coffin to make it 5-0.
