Sanquelim sink St Christopher

A brace each by Omkar Parob and Ismael Savanur secured three points for Football Club de Sanquelim as they trounced St Christopher Sports Club, Tivim 5-1 in GFA’s Third Division at St Christopher, ground, Tivim on Wednesday.
Sanquelim were very strong on the left side with Siddesh Pilnaik getting forward and overlapping teammate Omkar Parob at every opportunity.
St Christopher played well, but were caught on the break on a number of occasions and also lost out in the physical battles.
In the 13th minute, Sanquelim’s Omkar Parob cut in from the left wing and fired low past St Christopher custodian Jayson D’Souza.
On the half hour mark, Ismail Savanur replaced injured Priyanand Surlinker. With his first touch, Ismail placed the ball in the net after he found himself unmarked in the opponent’s box.
Just before half-time Sanquelim’s Omkar scored his second goal, with a classy scoop over the rival goalkeeper.
Sixteen minutes into the second half, Sanquelim went four up. Siddesh Pilnaik drove in a well flighted cross from the left and it was met by a brave Ismail whose diving header sent the ball goal bound.
After a number of failed attempts for St Christopher, Alex Fenandes finally got a well deserved goal after stretching out a leg to tap past the helpless Sanquelim goalkeeper Mandan Parob from close range in the 72nd.
Sanquelim completed the goal rush in the 81st when substitute Vikrant Sawant finished a cross delivered by Siddesh.
In another Third Division tie at St Anthony’s ground, Siolim, Xetrapal SC defeated FC Club of Siolim by a solitary goal scored in the 42nd by Bradley Lobo.
Xetrapal move onto six points from two outings while FC Siolim stay on three points.
