Santosh bags Nat silver

PANJIM: Santosh Harijan bagged silver after he lost his bout to Madan Lal of Services 3-2 at the 2nd Elite Men's Boxing Nationals being held at Visakhapatnam. He put up a brilliant fight throughout the three rounds.

PANJIM: Santosh Harijan bagged silver after he lost his bout to Madan Lal of Services 3-2 at the 2nd Elite Men’s Boxing Nationals being held at Visakhapatnam. He put up a brilliant fight throughout the three rounds. 
 “I am happy with my performance. Although I had to settle for silver I know how I fought in the ring”, said Santosh after his bout. The crowd cheered and gain him a rousing applause as he stepped down from the ring surprised yet calm. 
“Santosh fought well and we were sure that he had won. He confused his opponent throughout with whom he has played against three times in the past but lost. This time Santosh gave him a very tough fight.”, said coach Nilesh Khanolkar. 
He is assured of a berth for the Elite Men’s National Camp after having taken a break from boxing for a year due to injury.
 He previously won a silver (2009) and bronze (2010, 2012). Santosh has also won silver in the 2007 and 2011 National Games.
