CARMONA: Sao Jose de Areal edged past Betalbatim Sporting Club 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 2nd Carmona VP Cup, organised by Carmona SC, at Carmona VP ground, on Tuesday.
Liston D,Costa of Areal netted a brace in the third and 16th minutes. As the match progressed, in the second half, Betalbatim’s Aleric D’Cunha pulled a goal back in the 54th minute. The Betalbalim players tried hard to get back into the game but their strikers fumbled in front of the goal. Areal’s Liston D’Costa was given the man-of-the-match award.
Sao Jose de Areal will now meet the winner of Guirdolim Club and Cuncolim Union in the quarter-finals on February 18.
