Clube Sao Minguel de Taleigao prevailed over hot favourites Candolim Sports Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker after both teams were involved in a goalless draw to move into the finals of All-Goa inter-village Mahabank Platinum Jubilee Trophy soccer tournament sponsored by Bank of Maharashtra and organised by Adarsh Yuvak Sangh at Calangute Association ground, Calangute on Friday.
In an exciting semi-final match, the teams failed to score at full time. However, it was not Candolim’s day as they missed a couple of on-the-edge chances. With time running out, Candolim almost scored the winner but Kliebber’s shot hit the post and rebound into play.
Taleigao kept their cool to prevail over Candolim with Daniel Noronha, Cedric Peixoto, Levino Pereira, Gavin Araujo and Caetano Pinto scoring for Taleigao while Shankar Palienkar, Joelif Simoes, Sagar Balhkhande and Kliebber found the net for Candolim. Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao will now take on Nagoa Sporting Club on Sunday, September 5.
