CALANGUTE: Football Club of Siolim prevailed over Penha de Franca 4-3 via the tie-breaker after being held to a goalless draw at full time to move into the quarter-finals of 5th Saligao United Cup all-Goa Inter-Village football tournament organised by Saligao United at Dr Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim, Tuesday.
Penha came close to scoring in the 10th minute but Milind Shinde missed the mark narrowly. They had another chance in the 20th minute but Amar Kinlekar’s try sailed inches over. In the 22nd minute, Mhableshwar’s header off a Milind corner hit the crossbar.

Changing over, Siolim dominated the proceedings and had a couple of scoring opportunities but their forwards failed to find the net. Sangam Pednekar, Steven Fernandes, Clauddio Rodrigues and Rajesh Pomburpekar scored for the winners while Raju Padosi, Milind Shinde and Siddesh Palkar found Penha.
