FIDE rating chess at Ponda
PANJIM: The Late Narayan Nigalye FIDE rating rapid chess tournament organized by Ponda Taluka Chess Association will be held on February 23 and 24 at GVM’s HSS, Farmagudi, Ponda.

The total prize money is Rs 55,000. Twenty prizes in the open category plus age category prizes will be awarded. The winner will get Rs 15,000 and a trophy.
Only 175 entries will be accepted on first-come-first-served basis. Entries may be submitted to Sagar Sakordekar on 9422593131 or Amogh Namshiker on 9422455896.
Tribal tennis ball cricket at Bicholim
PANJIM: The tribal sports tennis ball cricket festival organized by SAG in collaboration with Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association, Mallikarjun Sports and Cultural Club and Nehru Yuva Kendra (North Goa) will be held on February 24 at Government Village School ground, Navelim, Bicholim.
In all, 12 taluka tribal tennis ball cricket teams will participate.
The winners will get Rs 20,000 and a trophy while the runners-up will take home Rs 15,000 plus a trophy. The semi-finalists will get Rs 5,000 each. Six individual prizes of Rs 500 each will also be given.
The teams may report at the venue with kit at 8 a.m.
The festival is organized under the chairmanship of Dr Pramod Sawant, MLA.
Inter-college baseball, taekwondo
PANJIM: The men’s and women’s inter-college baseball tournaments organized by Goa University will be held on March 5 and 6 at University ground, Taleigao.
Meanwhile the taekwondo tournaments will be held on March 8 and 9 at Multipurpose Hall, Fatorda.
This will be the first time baseball and taekwondo will be organized at the inter-college level by Goa University.
Football tourney at Colvale
TEAM HERALD
MAPUSA: The 2nd all-Goa seven-a-side Clovale panchayat football tourney organized by Youth Sports Club of Colvale will be held on February 24 at Colvale church ground.
Entries may be sent to Domnic Pereira, YCS secretary (9422395222) upto February 23.
Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 will be awarded besides individual prizes.
