RAIA: St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda, downed St Sebastiao Youth Club, Murida, 3-0, to seal a place in the quarter-finals of 24th Fr Basilio Andrade memorial football tournament organised by Associacao Academica de Majorda Utorda Calata, at the Musson ground, Majorda, on Thusday.
Against the run of play, St Anthony SC delivered the sucker punch. Vitorino Fernandes darted into the box before sliding a diagonal pass across goal. Lurking at the far post, Sunny Fernandes timed his run to perfection, prodding home beyond the diving Karol Soares to make it 1-0.
Moments later, Fhezer, now operating from the opposite flank, bamboozled a St Sebastiao YC defender with a deft dribble before sliding a clever diagonal across goal. Vitorino met it first time with a cool finish, doubling St Anthony SC’s advantage to 2-0.
Fhezer, who had been instrumental throughout, capped his brilliant all-round display with a well-deserved goal of his own – cutting inside from the left and unleashing a thunderous strike into the far corner, leaving St Sebastiao YC goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
